Hiya lastexile2k1,
I echo your request about the popups. I would like to see images that have been downsized for display open up in a popup window when you click "view image", instead of opening in the same page as image only.
I think we tend to forget, as advanced internet users, how confusing things like that can be for newbie surfers. From their perspective it looks like they have suddenly left the site they were just browsing and because the new page is URL to the image alone it doesn't have any back button to send them back to where they were.
Most of the sites I build are learning web sites where the bulk of users are very inexperienced and I try to avoid implementing site design features which might spook them or confuse them or force them to download plugins or enable stuff in their browser, so that they give up on exploring your site any further. Retaining your viewers attention is a very critical design issue IMO, which brings me to my next comment....
I am not so sure that lightbox is the way to go for EasyGallery because the beauty of this component for me is that it is sleek and streamlined and lightbox is a bit gimmicky (flashy even) so in my mind that might detract from the simple elegance of EasyGallery as a lightweight alternative to some of the big gallery packages.
That being said, I have seen javascript snippets that will popup your new (full-size image) window, automagically resizing and centering it on your screen, but there could be issues with this when the original image size exceeds your current browser resolution so it might require some kind of maximum new window size with scrollbars enabled?
Just some things to think about. But I'm no javascript expert so (((shrug)))

Excellent suggestion about the image pop tho.
Cheers,
Zana
